Matthew Cohen

    Currently, I create an express-way for my language through visuals from emotions with lines, shapes, color, and distortion under a mixed media format. Things intertwine from past and present with learning to express and articulate experiences and emotions I encounter. At a young age I was welcomed into a confusing and abstract world from an epileptic life. In my present life, I am isolated at times. Truly. From these stages in life, they share traits such as isolation, space, color, patterns, geometry, emotions, distortion, time, and language which is shown through what I create. When I create, I create the form of isolation in a way from the visual but doing the opposite by not being isolated because of the space I am welcoming the viewer to see what I have experienced already as well with creating a space away from the canvas, paper or fabric and usually there’s no real identification of me… Just my trace.
